In order to make HomeComm
a success, the business concept and model adopted relied
on the dire need to strike up deals and alliances with
local government and municipalities. We believe, for the
K-Economy to be successful the local government and municipalities
must be the focal point to provide Homecomm
services, where community multimedia utility data centers
will be installed and commissioned. To date, HomeComm
has signed agreements and memorandum of understandings
(MoU) with Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ) and Majlis
Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI).

It all began when MPSJ found out about HomeComm
and ARLHC discovered 'Project SJ2005'.
Unbeknown to ARL HomeComm
Sdn. Bhd. (ARLHC), MPSJ had already tied up with MIMOS
to create 'Project SJ2005'. Project SJ2005 is the idea
developed by MPSJ and MIMOS to turn the municipality of
Subang Jaya into a model 'e-community'. The vision is
to turn the municipal into a dynamic, knowledged based,
interactive community, which creates value, quality of
work and life to sustain the continuos development of
the municipal. The aim was to create an evolution where
suppliers of public services, businesses, education, healthcare
and voluntary activities are working together with local
citizens to increase the quality of life and economic
welfare.
It was by coincident that HomeComm
was also modeled around the same notions i.e. to develop
a community internet, intranet and extranet access and
connectivity and portal services, as described above,
which would serve as a vehicle for the community to have
easylink to information, entertainment, communications
and as a medium for the community to interact with each
other. HomeComm was
also targeting the Subang Jaya community as an initial
test bed to implement its business concept and fine tuning
the business model. The only difference between MIMOS
concept and model is that Homecomm
is already available as a product or service for trial.
In fact, an unproven product/service which, we sincerely
belief, could bring Malaysia to the forefront of the ICT
industry.
By chance, HomeComm
was discovered by MPSJ and also later, MIMOS. As all three
entities were working towards the same goal, it was then
decided that a win-win situation could be achieved if
the three entities teamed up to achieve this aspiration.

alliance with Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ) to
jointly conduct a pilot trial to provide Homecomm
services for the setting up of a smart community or SJ
2005 within the jurisdiction of Majlis Perbandaran Subang

into a networked and knowledge community and we hope that
this trial will form part of a nationwide plan to install
the project full-blown throughout the whole of Malaysia.
At the first stage MPSJ portal will be hosted by and installed
with Homecomm web
tools such as web-mail, calendar, chat, forum and postcard.
Certain specialized applications will also be installed
to web enabled MPSJ day-to-day business activities during
the currency of the MOU. Later portals for Jawatankuasa
Penduduk (JKP) and cyber schools will be set up and hosted
by Homecomm followed
by the commissioning of broadband Internet access to link
these JKPs and cyber schools with MPSJ and the global
Internet. The idea is to establish and link all existing
and future portals, contents and media within MPSJ's jurisdiction
to form a community broadband intranet, extranet and global
internet for easy reliable access and seamless integration
of information, entertainment, communications and interaction
amongst the residents of Subang Jaya.
